La Fou de Tous

La Fou is a waterfall of the Tous Stream located on the estate of the Aubareda farmhouse, the oldest in the county. It creates a series of pools and brooks at various points which together form a wet area in the middle of an otherwise dry landscape.

Several legends are associated with La Fou, mostly related to the large number of caves that have been formed in the rocks by the water. Two of the best-known legends tell how a bandit (El Panna) used La Fou as a hiding place and escape route, and how the Virgin Mary sculpted her image in the rocks (the Cave of the Virgin Mary).

However, the most famous legend is that of the White Doe.

How to get to La Fou:

The route is well signposted. The first sign (green hiking sign) is located in the first square you come to when you reach the town of Sant Martí de Tous. There you’ll find a children’s park and a sign for a riding school.
Follow the sign for the riding school and as you drive along you’ll see the sign for “La Fou”. The parking area is located around 10-15 minutes away from the town. The walk starts here.
