Discovering the hidden waterfalls of Cabrera de Anoia

Our country is small but surprising.

Take for example the group of waterfalls in the municipality of Cabrera de Anoia, just a stone’s throw from the Alt Penedès region. They’re a little-known marvel located where the Bleda Torrent becomes a stream that flows from Canaletes to Bedorc. It’s a shady, wet place ideal for people looking for an introduction to the sport of canyoning.

The torrent is named after the farmhouse located near to Canaletes but the waterfalls are named after their characteristics. In fact, popular names generally identify the local reality with other more general names.

The three-hour Bleda Torrent route takes in the following waterfalls:

1. Els Capellans Waterfall.
2. El Cargol Waterfall, a gorge with a 35-metre drop, sculpted out of the conglomerate rock. It starts with an eight-metre canyoning slide, followed by a pool and two jumps, another pool and a final ten-metre jump that ends up in a pool that is a natural amphitheatre surrounded by vegetation, and into which another torrent flows on the left.
3. Els Cups Waterfall.
4. La Mala Dona Waterfall, where the water falls around 15 metres directly into a pool.

How to get there:

Departing from Canaletes along the track that leads to Bedorc, we reach the Bleda farmhouse, some 500 metres down the track. Around 50 metres beyond the farmhouse we take the path to left and, 50 metres further down, take another steep path to the left that takes us to the bottom of the hollow. Just before we reach the bed of the torrent, if we look to the right we can see that some pine trees have been chopped down to make a forest path (half hidden by vegetation) which is suitable for vehicles. We follow this path until we come to another rough path on the left, around 100 metres long, which leads us to the cliff where the Mala Dona (Evil Lady) Waterfall is located.
