The panoramic Puig Castellar
Puig Castellar is located at the highest point of both the Ancosa Mountain Range (944 m) and the county as a whole. When you get there and enjoy the stunning panoramic view, it becomes obvious why the town below was named La Llacuna.
It’s clear that the north side of the Ancosa Mountain Range poured its waters into the natural lagoon that existed there, since it is a sunken plain surrounded by this mountain range and the Alta Range to the south, the Fontfregona Range to the north and the Orpinell Range to the east.
The hill, at the foot of the ancient Vilademàger Castle, was once a well-protected natural site on which to build another castle and settlement. Far in the distance we can observe the white line of the snow-capped Pyrenees.
A triangulation station stands at the summit of Puig Castellar (reference 273123001), along with a forest observation post that serves as a vantage point. Immerse yourself in the panoramic views afforded by this peak halfway between Anoia and Alt Penedès
