BEAUTY SPOTS OF ANOIA

The country of Anoia is made up of strikingly different landscapes that together form an area full of contrasts and nuances. The high plains of Alta Anoia in the north, often shrouded in thick fog, are awash with the yellow of ripe cereal crops in the summer and deep greens in the spring, while the Òdena basin in the centre is characterised by fertile ravines and leafy forests. The most Mediterranean area is Baixa Anoia in the south, replete with lush vineyeards.

Discovering the hidden waterfalls of Cabrera de Anoia

Our country may be small but it’s also surprising.
Take for example the group of waterfalls in the municipality of Cabrera de Anoia, just a stone’s throw from the Alt Penedès region. They’re a little-known marvel located where the Bleda Torrent becomes a stream that flows from Canaletes to Bedorc.

Santa Càndia, a water adventure
Santa Càndia, a water adventure

Some places in Catalonia are hidden, forgotten, known to only a few. They’re nothing spectacular, but very pleasant all the same. There are a quite a few of these places in the area around Orpí, a town largely unknown by the general public: Santa Càndia.

Pujalt and L’Astor, stone and tradition
Pujalt and L’Astor, stone and tradition

Pujalt and its hamlets retain many vestiges of mediaeval times, such as gates from old walled enclosures, stone underpasses, Romanesque and Gothic churches, steep lanes and castle ruins. It also contains an important reminder of our more recent history: the remains of the training camp of the Popular Army of the Republic, dating from 1938.

L’Agulla Grossa, the cliff of Anoia
L’Agulla Grossa, the cliff of Anoia

The mountain situated to the east of L’Agulla Grossa is Grony de Miralles (867 m), the highest peak in the entire Queralt-Miralles-Montbui mountain system. From the summit of L’Agulla Grossa we have a superb panoramic view of the cereal fields and vineyards so characteristic of Miralles, and of the hills, valleys and mountains that make up the distinctive county of Anoia.

The panoramic Puig Castellar
The panoramic Puig Castellar

Puig Castellar is located at the highest point of both the Ancosa Mountain Range (944 m) and the county as a whole, offering a panoramic view of the aptly named town below: La Llacuna (The Lagoon).

The smell of summer
The smell of summer

Summer is here.
Fields, forests, mountains and houses all bathe in the sunlight. There’s a heady concoction of sensations, feelings, vibrations and passions; an exalted symphony.

The colours of spring
The colours of spring

Spring, an explosion of colour, an explosion of joy.
Cloudy, rainy, windy and colourful days. What a fun season!
No day is the same; every day there’s a new colour, a new sky, a new light.
