Amphibian and Reptile Rescue Centre of Catalunya
The CRARC is an institution created in 1992 dedicated to rehabilitating wildlife (with the goal of returning it to its natural habitat) and to promoting scientific research and environmental education. It is currently the only wildlife rescue centre in Spain specialising in amphibians and reptiles.
The centre invests a great deal of effort in caring for indigenous reptiles and amphibians at its facilities, including different species of turtles, lizards and snakes. Some have specific projects dedicated to them, such as the Mediterranean turtle, reintroduced into Garraf Natural Park or the Montsant mountain range as part of general plan coordinated by the Government of Catalonia.
Environmental education forms an important part of the centre’s daily activity. Visits and workshops are regularly organised for schools and other groups who want to find out more about the wonderful world of reptiles and amphibians.
